Sakura-Con 2008 Report

Sakura-con was wonderful, but unfortunately I got sick... -_-;

Anyway, this was my second year going to Sakura-con and I think it went a lot more smoothly than the first. There weren't any annoying schedule changes this time around. Sakura-con is definitely one of my favorite out-of-state cons and I'd love to go again next year. We'll see how things turn out... ~.^

We left for the airport very early Thursday morning, but the plane left late so we got to Seattle late. On top of that, my mom had trouble finding the one piece of luggage that she didn't take as a carry on. We didn't catch the bus to get to the hotel until 1ish and I don't even remember when we arrived there. We were able to check into the hotel right away so used that opportunity to take a nap. ^^; Then we went to pick up our badges. The only really interesting thing that happened that day is that we ran into Edobean by the elevators after we got back from Cheesecake Factory.

Friday's surprises and excitement came early... I ran into Vic at Starbucks! I was just eating breakfast while enjoying some coffee {caramel macchiato, yay!) and my mom spotted him in line. He had to hurry off to opening ceremonies, but it was still a great way to start things off! We headed to opening ceremonies after that... it started late so we skipped out early to go to the Ranger panel. We were late to it, but I don't think we missed too much. This is where the second suprise came thanks again to the shrewd observational skills of my mother. Mandy and the Matriarch were there! I did NOT see that one coming.

There was a Ranger gathering that day around 3ish, but it was rather informal. I mostly talked to Mandy and Vic's mom. I was so happy to meet both of them! Other than that, I did meet GirlyAnimeGirl and we both had our Ranger baby tees! ^_^ We didn't do much else that day besides go to Vic's Q&A panel... did I mention he was dressed as Captain Kirk from Star Trek? Yup, that was pretty much it for Friday, IIRC..

I was really excited about Saturday, because Vic had a concert at 11AM. The only problem was... I woke up too early out of excitement! I couldn't go back to sleep so I watched videos (TV and YouTube stuff) on my cell phone until an appropriate hour rolled around. ^^; We headed over to the convention about an hour early so we could get in line and there were already people there. Not too many, but it was a good thing that we got there when we did! The concert was great and so much fun, but there were some unfortunate technical difficulties. I didn't mind, but I felt bad for Vic. I've been dying to see Vic have one since he started doing them at cons. I was really happy that I got to sit in front, too.

Later I wanted to go to the Wrench Throwers Anonymous (Caitlin Glass' fanclub) panel and autographs, but I was starting to feel sick so I had to lay down for awhile. I'm not totally sure what happened after that, but I do remember we checked out the dealer's room and went to the panel for Steve Prince. Then was dinner and I watched Bleach before going to bed.

Okay... Sunday had the really early panel at 9 in the moring. On top of that, we had to check out of the hotel and leave later that day. I was so worried we'd be late and have no where to sit, but we made it! It was a really nice panel and Vic even sang a little! Not too long afterwards was Caitlin's panel. I was so happy to finally see her in person and get my Winry signed. ^_^ The very last panel we attended was a music composition panel with Vic and one of the Japanese guests. It was sooo interesting and it really made me want to learn to sing or play the piano or maybe even both. We said good-bye to Vic after that and I got a new pic with him for my cell phone. Then it was off to the airport... T_T We could've stayed at the con a little longer, but we would've been cutting it close. I guess its okay that I missed closing ceremonies, but I still kind of regret it.

Anyway, that's Sakura-Con in a nutshell! I would've like to look around the city more, but it was very rainy/cold and I just starting to get sick. I got really sick when I came home. This just has not been my year for staying well. *sighs* I've slowly gotten better this week and now I'm feeling almost as good as normal. I've been sleeping a lot and resting so I hope that helps. Today was the exception, though. I woke early unexpectedly and I couldn't go back to sleep. The good news is that in spite of that I don't feel too bad today.

I would've posted earlier, but I've been working on something secret. I could say right now, but I want to keep it a surprise until it's all finished. I'm very happy and grateful, though! You'll see what I'm talking about in due time. I was so excited when I first found out, but I've calmed down since then.

Now I have to get ready for Kawaii-Kon. I wasn't sure if I could go for awhile, but now everything's set! I can't wait! ^_^
