Writer's Block: Friends of old
Mar. 22nd, 2011 11:30 pm[Error: unknown template qotd]I have two of them, actually. Maybe I'll even have another someday, but I pray that I never lose her friendship. The one I could lose someday probably doesn't even count because we've continued our friendship into adolescence and adulthood. All of these friends came from the same elementary school. I have lost some friends over the years, but these are the two I think about the most.
Corin (I can't recall if that's the correct spelling) was my friend in fourth grade. She was a grade above me, and I made friends with her after my best friend moved away. Corin was new to the school, and she had the same problems making friends there that I did. I seem to remember that she came to the principal's office crying sometimes because of some problems with the other kids that didn't accept her. We were friends out of convienience more than anything, but she was much cooler than I ever gave her credit for back then. We had a few things in common, and I really should have suggested she read The Chronicles of Narnia (my favorite books at the time) or watch Digimon (one of my favorite anime at the time) so that we could have had more in common. I often regret not keeping in touch with her after she left the school the next year. I hope that, wherever she is, she has a happy life.
The second in Janeice (again, I'm not sure if I got the speeling right), who was my friend in fifth grade. She was also a grade above me, but that didn't seem like much of a big deal because the two classes were combined. She had a compliacted family history, and her current parents adopted her (as well as her brother) after she was taken away from her biological mother. We had less in common than I did with my fourth grade friend, but I feel that she needed friendship even more. I KNOW the other kids didn't accept her because one of them wrote a mean note about her, and we all had to miss recess until the writer confessed. I have some fond memories of her because we went on the Washington D.C. trip together, and I went to a Halloween carnival at her church. After the school year was over, she went on to middle school, and I w
