Fandom Snowflake Challenge: Day 03

Yay, goals! I was going to post about them sooner or later. I didn't do a great job at keeping my goals for last year, but I did make some good progress, and I am happy with everything that I accomplished last year. I don't want to make the exact same goals this year, but some of them will probably be the same.

Try to Write ~75,000 words this year - This is the point where Yoda would say "Do or do not, there is no try," but it's a daunting task. I absolutely failed at doing any creative writing during the fall semester. This year, I signed up for the writing challenges getyourwordsout and inkingitout. It may be taking on more than I can handle, but failing spectacularly is better than not doing anything at all. I've done pretty good so far, but I didn't write anything at all yesterday. I will have to make up for it today.

Walk a mile each day - This is easy to do on week days when I do some walking to classes, but it will be more difficult on the weekends when I tend to hide from the world like a proper little introvert. Still, I can use the elliptical on those days. It's just kind of hard to be motivated. :(

Read 52 books - I also failed miserably on my GoodReads reading challenge. I know that I can do better this year if I try, but I don't want to overwhelm myself since I'm always busy with writing and school. I will include all of the books that I read for school (except for the textbooks), so that should help.

Use Dreamwidth at least once a week - It doesn't matter if it's posting, commenting, or just reading, but I want to spend more time on DW and keep up with fandom.

Achieve a better balance between online life and school life - I spent almost no time in online fandom last fall, and I defaulted on all of my exchanges except for one. I felt like I could have done it if I planned better, but I often felt guilty about anything that took my mind away from school work. Maybe I don't have to cut out online fandom entirely. If things get hectic, fandom time will be the first thing to go, but I would still like to make time for both.

Again, I could add more, but I don't want to overwhelm myself. If I accomplish more, that's great, but I won't force myself to do so.

Yay goals!

I have to get my act together on the GoodReads front - I set out every year to manage a reasonable amount, get weirded out by it because I use a facebook login for Goodreads and worry about my famly judging my reading tastes, and then quit. I think I need to stop crossing the streams on that front, maybe.
